La Sierra University's music department will present the operetta, "Die Fledermaus" on Feb. 23, 24, 28 and March 3 at Hole Memorial Auditorium. Composed by Johann Strauss II and translated “The Bat,” the operetta, first performed in 1874, is among Strauss’s most popular operatic works. As a composer of more than 500 waltzes, polkas, and other dance music, he is also known as the Waltz King. His best known such works include “The Blue Danube” and “Tales from the Vienna Woods." Produced with a double cast, the La Sierra operetta will take place at 7 p.m. for the February performances and at 3 p.m. on March 3. Prime seating is $15 general public; $10 senior citizens. General admission tickets for open seating sections are $10 each, senior citizens, $8.
